The name of the dish is misleading as there is no carrot in it. It consists of diced steamed cakes of rice flour stir-fried with shredded white radish, salt pickled radish, garlic and eggs. Its name originated from the fact that <i>loi poi<\/i>, the mandarin word for carrot is also used to mean radish. There are two varieties available \u2013 the dark version cooked with dark soy sauce which is much sweeter and the saltier version with more eggs and prawns. It is a popular dish for breakfast and supper.
