An egg will age one week for every day it is left out of refrigeration. Also, placement is important. Eggs should never be taken out of the carton as the carton protects the eggs from odors in the refrigerator. The carton also has the expiration date on it, so you will know how long you have had the eggs. Please do not store eggs on the door of the refrigerator, this is the warmest place and has the shock of being opened and closed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">#3 What is the difference between a brown and white egg?<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">The colour of the egg shell is not related to quality, nutrients, flavour, or cooking characteristics. White shelled eggs are produced by hens with white feathers and white ear lobes. Brown shelled eggs are produced by hens with red feathers and red ear lobes. Bown egg layers usually are slightly larger and require more food, thus brown eggs usually cost more than white eggs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #ff6600;\">#4 What is the latest on cholesterol?<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">A study done by Harvard Nurses\u2019 Health Study (1980 \u2013 1994) found that \u201cEgg consumption does not measurably raise blood cholesterol levels or have an independent effect on heart disease risk.\u201d A meta-analysis published in the June 1997 American Journal of clinical Nutrition, found that dietary cholesterol has little effect on blood cholesterol levels. Instead, the researchers found that saturated fat was the major contributor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #ff6600;\">#5 What are blood spots?<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Blood spots occur naturally in less than 1% of all egg produced. These should be caught in the processing line, but rarely small blood spots slip through. Blood spots can also form after the egg leaves the packing plant. Blood spots most often occur as the yolk ruptures out of the hen\u2019s ovary. A trace amount of blood attaches to the yolk and stays there as the egg is formed. Sometimes, due to rough handling, a blood spot can form after the eggs leave the processing plant. Blood spots are not signs of fertility. Blood spots do not mean that the egg is bad. Small blood spots can be picked off and the egg still used.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #ff6600;\">#6\u00a0 Which came first, the chicken or the egg?<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">If you believe in the Bible, the chicken came first. &#8220;And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. And God said, \u2018Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven\u2019.&#8221; Genesis 1:19-20. Chickens are a type of fowl, so\u00a0 the Christian Bible says that chickens came first.<br \/>\nIf you have a different religion, you might have a different belief about the how the treasures of the earth came to be. In the science of evolution, both chickens and eggs came before man. Since both the birds and the eggs were on earth first, historians weren\u2019t around to record which came first.<br \/>\nWhichever answer you gave, it\u2019s okay. A chicken can\u2019t be born without a chicken egg and a chicken egg can\u2019t be laid without a chicken. Both chickens and eggs are important!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #ff6600;\">#7\u00a0 How many hours does it take the hen to lay a single egg?<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">The actual time it takes for a hen to make an egg and lay it is 24 to 26 hours. Then the hen rests about 30 minutes or so before starting to make another one. In addition to resting about 1\/2 hour each time an egg is laid, some hens rest about every 3 to 5 days and others rest about every 10 days. Some hens hardly rest at all.
